Presentation of Cheque for St Francis Hospice

The Havering Chamber of Commerce (HCCI) arranged a show to raise funds for St Francis Hospice – which I arranged being President of my club the Ilford Magical Society

The HCCI are part of the Havering Business Alliance which is promoted by Barry Hearn on behalf of the Hospice which helps to raise much needed funds for St Francis Hospice

I hope we will be able to do the same again this year.

Magic at Boringdon Hall Hotel Plymouth

Had the good fortune to spend Christmas away this year at Boringdon Hall Hotel and Spa which is a luxury 5 star Manor House hotel in Plymouth.

As well as having a great time enjoyed the Magic

A great day apart from the weather to raise funds for The St Francis Hospice.I and another magician Tony Steward performed close up magic at Thorndon Park Golf Club,Ingatestone, Essex to a very receptive audience.

Not sure how much the evening raised but was in the thousands. The day was well supported and thanks must go to Barry Hearn, Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Sport helping St Francise Hospice raise valuable funding.

Elected Chairman of The Havering Chamber of Commerce

As well as being President of Ilford Magical Society I have now been voted Chairman of The Havering Chamber of Commerce (HCCI) – Which is a magic trick in its self. No seriously I am very honoured and proud to be voted in to this position. There is a lot of work to be done so I hope I am able to contribute to move the Havering Chamber forward and build a better foundation for the future

Barry Hicks Essex Magician Trade Show Presentation for Redbridge Chamber of Commerce Breakfast

Barry presented his Business of Magic presentation for Redbridge Chamber of Commerce breakfast meeting at Redbridge College. There was an audience of about 40 people and although Barry was unable to use his power point presentation the effects linked to selling business products and services went well.

Barry received from this morning invitations to do this presentation for four different groups. The message is getting out there.

Barry Hicks Essex & London magician has just been hired to perform mix & mingle close up magic at the Cabinet War Rooms London SW1.These rooms have great significance in World War Two where Churchill and his cabinet controlled the UK’s war effort. The function is a celebration of a companies first year back in business with many prestigious guests invited for the evening. I am looking forward to the event and working the rooms of this iconic piece of British History.

Havering Business Awards Barry Hicks Essex Magician Presents The Young Entreprenuer Award for RM Magazine

Barry Hicks Essex Magician presented the Young Entrepreneur Award to Heather Martin at the Havering Business Award 2012 on behalf of RM Magazine. It was a glittering evening at Maylands Golf Club, Romford with over 300 people from Havering’s Business Community. The host was Tim Vine with his quick one liners and entertaining approach to make the awards a fun evening. I hope to be back next year either working or presenting or accepting another award.

Barry Hicks Magic Enigma the Essex Magician at The Holiday Inn, Stratford with the Olympic Torch

Stratford and Essex Magician Barry Hicks had the privilege of holding an Olympic Torch by courtsy of John C Wagner Co-Owner of the Holiday Inn Stratford.(see photo) The views of the Olympic Stadium and Olympic Park as well as Stratford and the rest of London were stunning. The hotel is a flagship Holiday Inn with lots of new concepts and designs. The meeting rooms are superb as were the rest of the facilities. I was also shown the Staybridge Hotel which cover the top floors (Not sure how many) The concept of having two hotels in one building – The Staybridge is an all suite Hotel and is again designed with many new concepts.

I would suggest you go online and look at the different hotels. They offer special packages especially if you are visiting Westfield or Aspers Casino. What a great evening hope to stay there at sometime.

Barry Hicks Essex Magician attends Kids Inspire STV Building Services Fundraising Ball at The De Rougemont Manor

I had the privilege of attending the Charity Ball below by courtesy of RM Magazine which was a fantastic evening.

This weekend corporate supporter STV Building Services Ltd held their annual ball at De Rougemont Manor in Great Warley and raised a fantastic amount of money for Kids Inspire.
Guests were greeted by fire eaters and live statues as they enjoyed a champagne reception in the gardens of the Manor. With over 100 guests joining the STV team for a three course meal, a fun casino and live auction, the event raised a massive £7555.55 for Kids Inspire.

Our thanks go to Mason, Gabby and the rest of the STV team for their hard work in making the evening such a roaring success!

Barry Hicks Essex Magician attends Hilton Hotel, Stansted, International Brotherhood of Magicians Gala Dinner & Star Cabaret

What a wonderful evening organised by International Brotherhood of Magicians British Ring President Brian Miller and his wife Audrey. Guest of Honour Lord John MacGregor and International IBM President Vanni Pule and Brian Miller gave very entertaining speeches which was followed by a Star Cabaret. The Toastmaster for the evening was Dennis Allen and background music was provided by The Peter Werth Trio, Paper Magic at the table by Steve & Megumi, The menus were designed by Barbara and Alan Astra, the table flower decorations by Michael Goulding OBE, The Stage & Lighting organised by Barry Nowland & Michael Carr, Sue Hamilton was filming the Magic Video. The compere was John Styles MBE who kept the evening and stage show flowing and introduced the acts, Peter Wardell, Steve Hewlett, Antje Pode, Mel Mellers and lastly Andrew Van Buren & Company. Brian and Audrey are to be congratulated for providing an evening to remember.

Barry Hicks Essex Magician Performs at The Royal Oak, Stapleford Abbotts Friday 6th April

Last minute booking to perform at a special Easter evening at The Royal Oak Stapleford Abbots. Good crowd and the magic went down well.

First time there and looks a great pub for an evening out – Well appointed restaurant and bars.

Hope to go there on a social night to try out the menu.

Barry performed at 15 tables at the Sacred Hearts School Black Tie St Patricks Day Ball, Upminster

Great atmosphere for the diners although lots of noise while performing but had good reaction from the majority of tables.

Was asked for Business cards on several occasions and had one enquiry for a function on the night.

The pupils who acted as waitresses were well organised and did an excellent job serving the three course meal.
